The work continues behind the scenes – FBC News
The Department of Health is ensuring that the level of protection offered to Fijian citizens is mimicked for inbound visitors when borders are opened.
Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said tourists will be able to enjoy the beauty of our country and return home without fear of COVID-19.
Dr Waqainabete said health officials are working frantically behind the scenes to ensure that nothing is left to chance when tourists disembark in Nadi.
“Confidence has been demonstrated because visitors know they are able to do this because compliances have been met and all boxes have been checked and they can travel safely.”
The ministry is also liaising with the tourism industry on how visitors can have a true vacation experience in a COVID-confined environment.
A visit this week by Australian Pacific Minister Zed Seselja is also likely to send positive signals to potential visitors to our largest market.
The borders officially open on December 1st with a good number of arrivals expected that day.
