Ilham Aliyev saw the landscaping works carried out in the Ramana settlement
AZERBAIJAN, July 6 – President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has seen the landscaping works carried out in the Ramana settlement in Baku.
General Director of LLC “Baku Landscaping Service” Bunyad Gasimov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the work carried out in the settlement.
Bunyad Gasimov: Sir, this is a new lighting system.
President Ilham Aliyev: Does it work economically?
Bunyad Gasimov: Mr. Speaker, these are wall lamps produced in Azerbaijan. The entire colony is fully illuminated at 100%.
President Ilham Aliyev: Good. Jobs have also been created.
Bunyad Gasimov: A total of 300 jobs are already in place. We plan to open up to 450 jobs by the end of the year.
It was noted that reconstruction had also been completed in Ramana, roads in the settlement had been paved, walls and roofs had been renovated and street lighting had been installed. Hasanbay Zardabi, Khanlar, Mirzaahga Aliyev, Abdurrahman bay Hagverdiyev streets of the settlement and the streets around the cemetery have been completely renovated. The area was also cleared of trash.
It has been brought to attention that the Ramana settlement is rich in monuments that can be included in Absheron tourist itineraries. One of them is Ramana Castle, which is believed to belong to the 12th-14th centuries and attracts attention with its grandeur at the entrance to the settlement. It is located at a high point. The fortress, with walls 15 meters high, is believed to have been built for defensive purposes and used as a castle during the state of Shirvanshahs. Some scenes from famous movies “Koroghlu”, “Nasimi” and “Babek” were filmed at Ramana Castle.
The Head of State took note of the restoration work carried out in the castle.
One of the ancient monuments of Ramana is the Novruzgulu bath. President Ilham Aliyev was also told about this ancient bath. It was reported that there were four wells in the bath in the past, but there are three now. The bath named after the son of Novruzgulu Babakishi is the only building on the Absheron Peninsula whose documents have been collected and verified. High-quality restoration work has been carried out in the bathhouse building.
It was noted that during the reconstruction works in Ramana, environmental protection and the ecological state of the settlement were among the priority issues.
The Head of State was also briefed on the work done to increase the employment of the Ramana population. It was noted that a carpet weaving business and a sales shop had been opened in the settlement. The production and sale of products is carried out in newly created catering and service facilities. These facilities are equipped with the necessary tools and facilities to provide a high level of service to customers and ensure their comfort.
It was noted that the sale of dried fruits produced in Pirshagi would be done in Ramana. The installation of mobile vending facilities and kiosks has done much to increase employment and meet the needs of locals and tourists.
One of the projects implemented in Ramana is a vertical gardening project. The objective of the project is to encourage self-employment, enable low-income families to earn a living and develop family farms. It also aims to extend green spaces, develop horticulture and the processing of agricultural products.
The Head of State had a conversation with a resident of the colony in the courtyard of one of Ramana’s houses.

President Ilham Aliyev: Thanks a lot.
Resident: My martyr uncle Allahverdi Allahverdiyev stayed in this house.
President Ilham Aliyev: Martyr of the first Karabakh war?
Resident: Yes, Farzali Farzaliyev, a veteran of the first Karabakh war, is my grandfather, and I also have an uncle, Namig Allahverdiyev, who is also a war veteran.
President Ilham Aliyev: Are you also involved in this work?
Resident: Yes, Mr. President.
Bunyad Gasimov: This is drip irrigation.
President Ilham Aliyev: Are they strawberries?
Bunyad Gasimov: Yes, they are strawberries. It is new planting and will take 10-15 days. In a few months, all these places will be green, Mr. President.
President Ilham Aliyev: Very well.
Bunyad Gasimov: Greens are planted in winter and strawberries in summer.
President Ilham Aliyev: I see that this house and its courtyard have been renovated.
Bunyad Gasimov: In general, according to your order and your instructions, the roofs, doors, walls and gates of the houses have been renovated. Particular attention was paid to the houses of the families of martyrs and veterans.

Ramana is also famous for its water reservoirs. One of the colony’s restored historic sites was a 40-step water reservoir. Water reservoirs are more common in the territory of Azerbaijan, on the Absheron Peninsula and in neighboring regions. As there are very few drinking water sources in these places, the question of the use of drinking water tables arose in the 16th and 18th centuries and water reservoirs were created. The construction of these facilities continued until the 20th century.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the repair and restoration works carried out in the water tank.
A sports center has been built for the people of Ramana to lead a healthy life and spend their free time efficiently. An indoor gym and a mini-football field are available in the centre.
The Head of State also mentioned the conditions created at the Ramana Sports Center.
