Groundbreaking for key road project in Shangla – Newspaper
SHANGLA: A major road project was inaugurated here on Saturday which would link Puran tehsil from Shangla to Mingora, Swat, and cut the distance between the two districts from the current 104 kilometers to 51 km and the travel time by half.
The 21 km road is being constructed between Enawar and Kalil Kandaw – a tourist destination in Shangla.
The inauguration ceremony of the road was held in Enawar area of Makhozi where former Provincial Minister of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Abdul Munim was the chief guest. Tehsil President Abdul Maula and local PTI leaders were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Munim affirmed that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had so far approved Rs 2 billion for projects to raise his special funds for PK-24, Shangla in different annual development.
He said the 14 km road from Aloch to Pandoria had been completed and the same road was later extended to Enawar which was almost complete.
“The 21 km road from Enawar to Kalil Kandaw has been included by the Chief Minister in 2021-22 ADP, and work on the project costing Rs 270 million has started today,” he said. and added that it would connect Puran to Haji Baba, Mingora, and also boost local tourism.
The new road projects would bring a positive change in people’s lives.
