Pansy Ho recognized by Macau government for tourism work
Pansy Ho Chiu King (pictured), a prominent shareholder of Macau casino operator MGM China Holdings Ltd, has been honored by the Macau government for her contribution to the city’s tourism sector.
An announcement made on Monday by the Macao government said Ms. Ho was among 44 individuals or organizations recognized by Macao for “their achievements, outstanding contributions and distinguished service.”
The award of the “Medal of Merit – Tourism” follows a recommendation from a government committee in Macao. Ms. Pansy Ho is the only prominent figure in the Macau casino industry to be among the winners this year.
She is the co-chair and executive director of MGM China Holdings Ltd, a Macau casino licensee, and has been instrumental in securing MGM China’s current Macau gambling rights.
She is also the group’s executive chairman and managing director of the Hong Kong-listed shipping and real estate conglomerate Shun Tak Holdings Ltd – the company founded by her father Stanley Ho Hung Sun, a casino gaming mogul and the founder of the casino operator. of Macao SJM Holdings. Ltd.
Ms. Pansy Ho is also vice president of the Macau Chamber of Commerce, representing some of the city’s top businessmen. She is also known for helping to organize the World Tourism Economics Forum conference which is held annually in Macau.
Earlier this month, Ms Pansy Ho delivered a speech to a United Nations body, supporting the Hong Kong government’s handling of the street protests there.
In 2017, his brother, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, chairman and CEO of Macao casino dealership Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd, also received the Medal of Merit – Tourism from the Macao government.
Stanley Ho had a commercial monopoly in the Macau casino market between 1962 and 2002.
