Paris (VNA) – France is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to restore and preserve cultural relics linked to architectural works built by France in Vietnam through activities such as information sharing and training of human resources for these works, said Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, French Minister of Culture.

Speaking in a working session with Vietnamese Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong on November 4 (local time), she said France is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the domain of cultural industry through specific projects proposed by the parties.

Bachelot-Narquin affirmed that France still considers culture as a priority area in bilateral cooperation activities. She hoped the two sides would connect to preserve architectural relics and heritage to attract tourists, and tourism revenues would continue to be used to reinvest in conservation work, adding that France is also interested in promoting the development of creative cultural industries of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Vice Minister Cuong spoke about conservation work in Vietnam, including the project to restore villas built from the French colonial period in the capital Hanoi, such as the Opera House and the Presidential Palace.

He suggested that both sides consider the possibility of organizing the Vietnam-France exchange year based on the success of the model that was implemented in 2013-2014 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-France strategic partnership in 2023.

He also expressed his wish to build on this occasion a program of cultural and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to organize a series of cultural activities in combination with the promotion of tourism in various forms in Paris and some cities in France, Cuong said. Similar activities will also be organized in Hanoi and other locations by the French Embassy in Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to coordinate the organization of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10 years of the Vietnam-France strategic partnership in 2023, thus helping to strengthen the strategic partnership in a practical and effective manner in all fields. where both parties have potentials and interests. /.
